Lehigh Valley College Opens New Career Services Center
(Center Valley, March 22) - Lehigh Valley College recently cut the ribbon on a new Career Services Center at its Center Valley campus. The facility is designed to empower the school's students in developing successful careers.
"Lehigh Valley College has always been focused on doing the absolute most we can to help our students prepare for and launch rewarding careers," said Marlyn Kissner, the school's career services director. "The new center makes us better able than ever to fulfill that mission."
The new center features workstations where students can prepare and hone their resumes. Phone hookups at the workstations also make it possible to establish direct job contacts. Databases and print resources for professional development enable successful career research.
A staff of four full-time career services representatives provides one-on-one focus, assisting students with their career development requirements.
"We've built a partnership between the career services department and the school's other staff and faculty," Kissner said. "It's what's needed to help take our students to the next level in career development. We want our graduates to love what they do for a living, and it's our job to make that happen."
Kissner said the LVC career services department has also been pushing forward an extensive community outreach program, bringing together employers and the school's students. Forty leading employers from the Lehigh Valley exhibited at a recent job fair at the school. Recruiters and HR executives from prestigious firms outside the area have also been visiting the school and its students in substantial numbers.
