The signing will include a brief introduction by Lucido to the background of the novel, and readings of a few short passages from the book. Copies of the novel will be available for purchase at the reading for $15.95 plus tax.
"Not Always Saint Jerome" was published in October by Treble Heart Books of Sierra Vista, Ariz. It’s the story of Jerome LaRocca, a middle-aged, happily married advertising man, who begins to experience disturbing flashbacks from his childhood. The flashbacks are full of memories, as well as some brutal events and actions he does not remember or believe he could have done. LaRocca seeks out a psychologist friend for advice and assistance. The psychologist believes Jerome is experiencing classic dissociate disorder syndrome—a splitting into other personalities—and tries to help him from that perspective.
Because the flashbacks are so bizarre, LaRocca believes he is being manipulated by forces from the real "Dark Side." He pursues that idea with a high school friend and expert on matters demonic. After 28 years of not seeing or speaking to him, she calls LaRocca on the day of an especially gruesome flashback because she senses something terrible going on in his life. The three of them become ensnared in a bizarre investigation that culminates in their horrific life-and-death confrontation with the angel of the bottomless pit, and King of the mutant creatures that emerge from that pit.
Lucido has worked as a college English professor, pastor, copywriter, and advertising creative director. He has written "Racing With The Hawk: The Man Behind Dale Earnhardt" (Revell Publishers); "Pilate," a two-act dramatic musical that he is attempting to bring to Broadway in 2007; and "Who’s Not Listening," a comedy for the Marriage Enrichment Organization. "Not Always Saint Jerome" is his first novel.
