Junior Achievement of Lehigh Valley, Dale Carnegie Training to Offer Public Speaking, Presentation Skills Course at Lehigh Valley College

(Center Valley, January 23) – An eight-week course in public speaking and personal presentation skills is being held for eight consecutive Saturdays at Lehigh Valley College, Center Valley; the course began January 20. The course is presented by Junior Achievement of Greater Reading and the Lehigh Valley in partnership with Dale Carnegie Training. Sessions are scheduled for 9 a.m. to noon.

The program is designed to assist participants in developing their skills in public speaking, personal presentation, leadership, and time management, all in preparation for a college education and a successful role in the workforce. About 25 students from grades nine through 12 at area schools will receive full scholarships for the program. The students, who are selected by their high school guidance counselors, receive college credit for the program. Value of each scholarship is about $700.

"This is a classroom-based program," said Jennifer Quick, development manager for Junior Achievement, "but we hope the young people taking part will use the skills they acquire as business professionals in the workforce of tomorrow."
